The ninth National Lawyer Congress was held in Beijing from 30 March 2016 to 1 April 2016. Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and secretary of the central political and law commission Mr. Jianzhu Meng, minister of public security Mr. Shengkun Guo, president of Supreme People’s Court Mr. Qiang Zhou, procurator-general of Supreme People’s Procuratorate Mr. Jianming Cao, and minister of Justice Ms. Aiying Wu attended the Congress. Party branch general secretary of Zhong Yin Law Firm and honorary director Mr. Zenghai Zhao attended the Congress and held the post of general scrutineer.

As secretary Mr. Jianzhu Meng pointed at the meeting, as the nation is entering a new era, this is the age of rule by law and the period full of opportunities for lawyers. He hoped lawyers could respect law, be true to facts, be honest and faithful, practice for the people, be the one to maintain social justice and to promote social economic development. To serve the people and nation with one’s talent and efforts.

Being the vice chairman of Beijing Law Association, Mr. Zenghai Zhao expressed his support for secretary Mr. Jianzhu Meng’s speech during group discussion by stating the speech pointed the correct direction for future lawyers. He also stated that the Lawyer Association would need to play a dual role: safeguard the rights and interests of lawyers through legal means when rights are being infringed；carry out strict supervision and correct any mistakes of lawyers during practicing the law, maintain the overall reputation and image of lawyers.
